Circularity .....
..... meaning Circular Economy, is an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources. Circular systems employ reuse, sharing, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling to create a closed-loop system, minimising the use of resource inputs and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions. The circular economy aims to keep products, equipment and infrastructure in use for longer, thus improving the productivity of these resources. All "waste" should become "food" for another process: either a by-product or recovered resource for another industrial process or as regenerative resources for nature (e.g., compost). This regenerative approach is in contrast to the traditional linear economy, which has a "take, make, dispose" model of production.

Circularity Solutions are thought leaders around Deposit Return Schemes (DRS). DRS is proven as the only solution capable of collecting up to 90% of drinks packaging material, largely consumed away from the home and reducing associated littering by up to 85%. In response to developing legislation and growing consumer demand, DRS is today planned to be implemented in a number of countries in Europe including Scotland – with the launch date of 16 August 2023.
Circularity Solutions provides objective and independent support and guidance to organisations to prepare for and optimise their DRS execution.
However, we also believe that the DRS solution of today is not the right one for tomorrow. Digital DRS is a new solution for the future and Circularity Solutions founded the DDRS Alliance - a collaboration of global organisations working together to design, develop and validate the global model for Digital DRS.

Digital DRS (DDRS) has been conceived to transform the DRS solution through digitally connecting every drinks container to the web, so releasing a revolution in supply chain transparency and effectiveness. It promises to deliver a more cost-effective solution for DRS, driving higher collection rates and influencing consumer behaviour for the benefit of our environment. As pioneers of the DDRS solution, we are helping to drive the development and validation of this exciting new technology.
We have defined the vision of the future where it is easier for consumers to return their used packaging for recycling than it is to purchase it in the first place; a time when consumers will know where their products have come from, their nutritional credentials and their impact on the environment – all through a global open standard.
